EMOTIONALLY FOCUSED COUPLES THERAPY

Creating positive change in relationships

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) is a structured approach that was developed in the 1980s

and is based in attachment theory.

EFCT is experiential in nature and works to engage with our emotions and deepen understanding around what makes us behave in the ways we do, when we are not feeling connected, loved, cared for and heard.

It is effective with heterosexual or diverse couples and other relationships, such as parent/child or siblings.

It has been found to be highly effective in resolving infidelity and other forgiveness issues.

We will have an initial session with both partners, then an individual session each, then we will return to working as a couple from then on. Sessions ideally are conducted weekly for the work to be most effective.
