HAKOMI SOMATIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
"I embrace the notion that healing is directed from within, that it is organic.... With awareness gently focused on present experience, sensitivity increases and attempts to manage the experience slowly yields ... We are self-creating, self-maintaining, self-organising beings. Our development unfolds from within... It can repair itself. It can heal ... It is by increasing sensitivity that we reach the map, the mapmaker, and the possibility of change. By accessing the core, we find not just the created self, but the power that creates." - Ron Kurtz, founder of Hakomi.
I am a graduate of Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy Training and I have also completed additional training in the Innate Somatic Intelligence Trauma Therapy Approach throughout 2022. I use many techniques from the Hakomi method. Working in this way we are aiming to explore “core material” which develops over our lives,
comprising memories, beliefs, neural patterns and emotional dispositions.
Core material shapes who we are, our attitudes, perceptions of life, behaviour and habits.
Core material exerts its influence unconsciously, sometimes allowing us to be who we want to be, and at other times,
as we have learnt these patterns in times of trauma or loss, it limits us in our daily lives.
Using Hakomi techniques, we start by creating a place of safety in the therapy room.
From here, it is possible to explore your inner experience in key developmental areas such as safety, dependency, freedom, vulnerability and worth. Experiences in childhood can cause these important developmental processes to get stuck, and together we will gently work together to heal and transform these blocks.
This can create lasting transformational change in your life.
