"Love"

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

Creating positive change in relationships

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) is an approach based in attachment theory.

Disconnection with someone we love is incredibly painful and often scary,

especially if there is conflict or rupture.

There may be silence or arguments, infidelity or betrayal

or just the need to explore whether you are still right for each other.

By understanding the reasons underneath the distressing behaviour,

in either yourself or your partner, you will find ways for different responses

leading to greater connection, care and trust.

EFCT is experiential in nature.

Initially the work is focused on more clearly understanding the cycle of your communication

and behaviour and supports you to engage with not only your emotions,

but to explore deeper views of yourself and others.

It is effective with heterosexual or diverse couples and other relationships.

We will have an initial session with both partners, then an individual session each,

then we will return to working as a couple.

Sessions ideally are conducted weekly for the work to be most effective

and can move to fortnightly as the work progresses.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which I practice, the Dja Dja Wurrung people,
and pay my respects to their elders: past, present and emerging.
